Care Guide
Washing
Hand wash your saree separately in cold water for the first three washes — handloom cotton and jamdani release excess dye early on. Use a mild detergent. Do not soak for more than fifteen minutes.
Drying
Dry in shade, never direct sunlight. Sun fades natural dyes quickly. Hang lengthwise rather than folded over a line, so the weight of the water does not stretch the weave.
Ironing
Iron on medium heat while slightly damp. For jamdani, iron on the reverse to protect the raised motifs.
Storage
Refold along different lines every few months so permanent creases do not set. Store in cotton or muslin, never plastic — handloom needs to breathe. Keep away from direct contact with naphthalene balls.
Starching
Light rice starch restores crispness to cotton sarees. Linen blends generally do not need it.
